PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers announced a one-year contract extension with goalie Steve Mason on Monday. Mason was acquired last week in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Mason, 24, would have become a restricted free-agent after the season, but instead chose to stay with the Flyers for $1.5 million. Mason won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 2009 for the league’s top rookie.
